Ordinary cherry-tree /cerasus avium l./
A tree with a height up to 35 m and a diameter up to 60 cm. The ordinary
cherry-tree is fast-growing species. It lives for up to 90 years.
It is encountered as a single tree or in small groups in the composition
of the deciduous and mixed plantations throughout the country.
The wood is with a wide red-brown core and narrow light reddish laburnum.
The annual circles are broad and clearly outlined. It is hard, moderately
heavy 660 kg/m3 and resilient. It is greatly valued in the
production of musical instruments, the furniture production, turnery,
cooperage, wood-carving and others. The wood is valuable, like the
walnut one owing to its scarcity and the beauty of the texture.
